Portable Appliance Testing Safety

Portable device testing ensures the safety of all employers, employees and visitors to a business. The process involved in testing portable devices is quite simple. All electrical devices will be tested using a portable device testing machine, which will determine whether a device has passed or failed.
All of our testers have been well trained and are both confident and competent to perform portable device tests. It is quite difficult to determine the duration of the portable device test, as it mainly depends on the number of portable devices.
The portable device test must be performed on any device with a power plug that must be plugged into an outlet and weighing less than 18 kg. This includes everything from kettles, refrigerators, microwaves, computers, printers to fans. Extension cords / cables should
also be tested to ensure that they are safe to use.
During the portable device test, each outlet of each device should be connected separately to the portable device test machine and a reading recorded on a portable device test report. The reading will determine if the device can then be used safely.
If a device fails during the portable device test, you will be asked not to continue using it. A red label will be attached to the appliance indicating that the appliance has failed, and details of the appliance will be included in the portable appliance test report showing that it has failed.
If a device passes the portable device test, you can continue to use it without worrying that it is not safe. A green label will be affixed to the device indicating that it has successfully passed a portable device test and all details will be included in the report.

Once your portable devices have been tested, you will receive a certificate proving that your company has taken precautionary measures to ensure the safety of people who work and visit company premises.
A detailed report of portable device tests for your business is not always published. In some cases, this is only available on request from the manager of the company. For more info Click Here
